Meet our breakfast chef
Thembelani, affectionately known as “Mr T” is one of our breakfast chefs extraordinaire. He has been with the guesthouse 10 years this year, and hails from Tsombo in the Eastern Cape. Thembelani joined us as a house keeper and worked his way into the kitchen. Here he was trained up with the very important task of making breakfast for our guests. We pride ourselves on our breakfast offering and Thembalani has embraced this wholeheartedly.
Eggs benedict and fruit platters
His eggs benedict is legendary and his fruit platters and fruit salads are always meticulously prepared. He ensures that every fruit in season is represented! (He has been known to send the general manager back to the shops if he is not 100% satisfied with the quality of the fruit she has bought!) Mr T also includes fresh herbs straight from our garden in the presentation!
Fresh croissants and muffins
Thembelani starts his day at 6 a.m. with the baking of croissants and muffins and setting out of the breakfast buffet. He is on hand to take hot breakfast orders from guests and ensures that the coffee is flowing and the buffet is constantly topped up. The thing that Thembelani likes most about his job are the other staff members and fellow team mates and this is evident from the rapport he has with them. He has a great sense of humour and always has a joke at the ready! He always goes the extra mile too, whether it’s servicing a room or carrying luggage for a guest. Thembelani embodies the ethos of the guesthouse – nothing is too much trouble!
