THINGS TO SEE AND DO

We are 2 minutes drive from the Table Mountain Cable Car Station, as well as 10 minutes drive or 25 minutes walk from the Waterfront where there are a variety of fantastic shops to browse thru, as well as 10 minutes drive from the famous Clifton and Camps Bay Beaches. We are also 2 minutes WALK away from many popular, great quality, varied menu restaurants and cafe's. We are 15 minutes drive from Kirstenbosch gardens, 7 minutes walk from the Governours gardens, 5 minutes walk from the Jewish museum, 7 minutes walk from many art and craft galleries and only a stone throw away from many historical and colonial buildings.

TOUR GUIDE AND TOURS
We have a registered tour guide on site, who can organize tours for you or give you suggestions of what to see, depending on your interests. She also speaks French, German, Swiss & a little bit of Italian. She can also take you paragliding as she was the first female to fly off Table Mountain. All our staff are very helpful to our guests, when there are enquiries on where to go, see, eat, drink etc.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
We can organize airport transfer pick-up/drop-off service for R140.00 for 2 people, or R180 for 3 people, or R200 for 4 people one way. Our driver will wait for you in the arrival lounge and will hold a board up with your surname on it. That way it makes it easier for you to find each other. Cape Town City is about a 20 Minute drive from the Airport. If you would like this service, please provide flight details such as airline name,
flight number, arrival time, date & destination from, such as Johannesburg or London etc.

TAXI OR TRANSPORT
Even though we are very close to all amenities in the city, if you need to use a taxi, you can catch one of 3 different types from Rosedene Guesthouse or at the end of the cul de sac.

SEA VIEW TAXIS - this is the usual western type of taxi, where the only passengers are you and your friends or family. You can phone for them at their centralised centre or go to their taxi rank and request them to take you to wherever you would like to go. Example of fare – From Rosedene to the water front shopping centre – R40 one way. Max Pax is 4 to 8 depending on the size of the taxi.

RIKKI’S TAXI – this is a type of transport that is popular with the backpackers or people who are on a budget for transport. You can phone for them, or flag them down from the side of the road. This is a small van with bench type seats and you would share the ride with up to 5 other people or if you are lucky, just by yourself. Example of fare –
From Rosedene to the water front shopping centre – R10/person one way. Max pax is 6 people.

LOCAL VW MICROBUS TAXIS – this is the type of transport that the locals use. You would flag them down from the side of the road. They may have 16 seats but they may try and fit up to 20 people in some cases. Think of them as small buses… they may not drop you off right outside the door, but they will take you to the area and you may have to walk. You also would have to catch the right one to go to your area. They do go to
the waterfront. Example of fare – From Rosedene to the water front shopping centre – R4/person one way. Max pax – it is up to the driver and the size of the passengers J

CAR RENTAL
We have at least 5 car rental companies that we can recommend. If you
would like to hire a car, we then forward your request to each of them, then forward their response back to you. This way, you can choose which quote is the best for you. We need information such as:

  • Do you want an automatic or manual?
  • Do you have a preference on the size of the car?
  • Would you like free kilometres included in the price or would you like
    it separate?

All car rental have either excess and/or insurance as part of the quote. Other special requirements such as baby seat? Each car quote should give you an answer on a variety of the above questions

CELLPHONE & SIM CARD RENTALS OR TRAVEL BUDDY SUPPORT
We are members of travel buddy and Cell C, where you can either bring your own mobile phone and register with travel buddy, so that you are only an sms message or phone call away from any assistance, whether it is for directions, advise or just plain peace of mind or if your phone is not compatible to South Africa, Cell C would be able to rent you a mobile phone for a reasonable rate.
